Eric Eisendrath, a lead trainer with Positive Coaching Alliance and a former Division I hockey goalie, warns parents of the problems with living vicariously through their children in athletics.
It’s especially challenging for parents who pursued their own career in sports to avoid this, but the dreams of children and their parents do not always align. This often leads to a more difficult sports experience for the child. It is important for parents to recognize the differing incentives and be able to let their children have their own individual experience.
