16 Nov Member Update: Forthcoming FIFA and U.S. Soccer Federation registration mandates
Nov. 16, 2017
We want to bring attention to forthcoming registration requirements from FIFA and the U.S. Soccer Federation that apply to all U.S. Soccer Federation members.
Aug. 1, 2018 (update: July 1, 2018*), the following information will be required of every player (recreational, competitive, and adult) before his or her US Club Soccer registration is processed:
- Country of birth
- Country(ies) of citizenship
- Has the player ever registered and participated in soccer activities outside of the United States with a foreign team?
*Update: These requirements are effective as of US Club Soccer’s 2018-19 registration year, which begins July 1. More specifically, understanding the FIFA deadline of August 1, the U.S. Soccer Federation has mandated compliance in conjunction with the start of each Member Organization’s 2018-19 registration year or August 1, whichever comes first. In US Club Soccer’s case, that is July 1.
This information will be used to comply with FIFA and U.S. Soccer requirements, largely as it relates to international clearance. These new fields are in addition to the data currently collected through the registration process.
Registrars and club administrators are encouraged to begin collecting this information now in order to make the process more efficient when the requirements take effect.
These data fields will be added to US Club Soccer’s registration platform and rec registration spreadsheet shortly, providing a location to enter the data in advance of the compliance date. SportsEngine will also add those fields to its US Club Soccer-aligned club registration tools.
We will notify you when they are added, provide you with additional details, and keep you updated with any other relevant information we receive.
As always, thank you for your support.
