- Michael Winograd: winogradussf.com / @WinogradUSSF
- Eric Wynalda: ericwynalda.com / @EricWynalda
Invited were announced candidates that had personally contacted US Club Soccer to initiate a discussion about U.S. Soccer and their respective candidacies. Carlos Cordeiro (@CACsoccer) was unable to attend because of prior commitments.
Conducted primarily to help determine US Club Soccer’s support and placement of votes in the upcoming president election, the forum was moderated by CEO/Executive Director Kevin Payne with involvement from the US Club Soccer Board of Directors. Candidates were asked a collection of questions from US Club Soccer’s Board of Directors, staff and members throughout the country. Topics included: how to make coaching education more accessible, the Federation’s role towards its youth members, high school soccer, the Development Academy, youth club solidarity payments and more.
“The answers were thoughtful, candid and honest,” Payne said, addressing the room during the finale of the forum. “We (US Club Soccer and its Board of Directors) have a lot to think about and a lot to talk about. Thanks for putting the time in on this. The Federation deserves this kind of vigor and this kind of passion from its leadership.”
The presidential election will be held Feb. 10 in Orlando, Fla., during U.S. Soccer’s Annual General Meeting.
