Web series:

As part of the run-up to the 2013 id2 National Selection International Tour, we examined all aspects of the trip through a seven-part Web series:

  • Part I: A Look Back featured video highlights from the three previous tours, which visited the Netherlands and Germany in 2010, England and Scotland in 2011, and Spain in 2012.
  • Part II: The Path to Spain detailed how the current 18-player roster came together, from being identified at the club level to standing out at elite-level camps.
  • Part III: Where Are They Now? provided an update on five alumni from the 2010 trip who are making an impact in the U.S. Soccer Under-17 Residency Program.
  • Part IV: By the Numbers told the story of the tour’s logistics through statistics that include 18 players, 17 clubs, 10 states, more than 35,000 miles, and 72 pairs of socks.
  • Part V: Scouting the Opponents broke down the upcoming matchups with youth squads from two of the world’s most well-known clubs — Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
  • Part VI: Coming Together examined how the team will get prepared to face some of the world’s best young players in a matter of days.
  • Part VII: Matching Up gave a sneak peek at which formation the team will use during the tour, with coach Gerry McKeown sharing the reasons behind the id2 National Selection’s playing style.
