US Club Soccer CEO Kevin Payne inducted into D.C. United Hall of Tradition

US Club Soccer CEO and former D.C. United President and CEO Kevin Payne was inducted into D.C. United’s Hall of Tradition, Oct. 2, during halftime of the team’s MLS Cup Playoffs-clinching win over New York City FC.

Payne served as the franchise’s founder and first executive. Under Payne’s leadership, D.C. United won three championships during Major League Soccer’s first four seasons.

He has 25 years of experience in high-profile, executive leadership positions within U.S. Soccer and MLS. Payne joined the US Club Soccer front office in January. In just eight months, Payne assembled US Club Soccer’s flagship initiative, Players First, when the platform launched at Nike World Headquarters.

“We are proud to honor Kevin Payne, who helped build and establish this club and set an early standard for success in Major League Soccer,” said D.C. United Managing General Partner Jason Levien in a news release. “He brought passion and dedication to the team and the league, and the championships won during his tenure are cemented in club history.”
