02 Feb Player Health & Safety experts to present webinar to coaches on managing injuries
As part of US Club Soccer’s Players First commitment, leading Player Health & Safety experts from 11+, Fit for 90, Player’s Health, Positive Coaching Alliance and Sideline Sports Doc will deliver a webinar titled: “Putting Players First in Injury Management” on Feb. 13 from 1-2 p.m. ET.
The cast of panelists are: Holly Silvers (11+), John Cone (Fit for 90), Tyrre Burks (Player’s Health), Danielle Slaton (Positive Coaching Alliance) and Dev Mishra (Sideline Sports Doc). It will be moderated by long-time US Club Soccer executive and ECNL President Christian Lavers.
The webinar will be live streamed on US Club Soccer’s Facebook page. Afterwards, it will be archived on the same page and available for viewing.

This is the first of many future collaborations among Player Health & Safety partners of Players First. “Putting Players First in Injury Management” will provide valuable insight to coaches in managing an unfortunate, inevitable reality of any season: injuries. Coaches will learn about initial injury assessment, effective parent/coach engagement, tips to keep injured players involved and how to best prepare them to return to play.
Those viewing the webinar live will be able to ask questions in the comments section for a chance to be answered in a Q&A portion towards the end of the session.

ABOUT THE PANELISTS:
After playing six seasons as a professional football player in the German Football League and Canadian Football League, Tyrre Burks was forced to retire prematurely as a result of mismanaged injuries. The injuries that cut Tyrre’s football career short motivated him to create Player’s Health. Player’s Health is a health-tech company that monitors and tracks injuries on youth athletes. Tyrre has relocated to Minnesota with his wife Jennie and his daughter Brooke and son De’Marcus.
Fit for 90 CEO & founder Dr. John Cone is recognized as a leading soccer-specific sports scientist. He is also a U.S. Soccer consultant and sports science instructor for the new Professional License and Academy Director course. Dr. Cone & Fit For 90 deliver coaching education and resources for parents and players to improve player health and safety through the Fit for 90 blog and Players First.
Dev Mishra is the founder and president of Sideline Sports Doc and a board-certified orthopedic surgeon sports medicine specialist at Stanford University. He has been a team physician for the U.S. Soccer Federation, University of California at Berkeley, the Oakland A’s, Stanford University and several San Francisco bay area high schools.
Holly Silvers is a board-certified physical therapist specializing in sports orthopedic rehabilitation in Santa Monica, Calif. She is a member of U.S. Soccer men’s and women’s national medical team and the International Cartilage Research Society’s Rehabilitation Committee. Silvers, along with researchers from Oslo and Zurich, developed the 11+ (formerly FIFA 11+) warm-up program.
Danielle Slaton is a retired American professional soccer player. She is currently a soccer analyst for Fox Sports and the Big Ten Network. A member of the USWNT from 2000-05, Slaton also played for the Carolina Courage in the Women’s United Soccer Association and was named the league’s defender of the year. Slaton is a National Advisory Board member of Positive Coaching Alliance.
