In this video, former MLB National League Manager of the Year and 2016 World Series Champion Chicago Cubs manager, Joe Maddon, explains how maintaining composure gives teams a competitive advantage. Maddon explains how a team’s composure starts with the coach, but it is important for every single player to remember the team wide effects of maintaining composure.
Maddon discusses how a player in a frustrating situation, such as being moved to the bench for a game, missing a penalty, or scoring an own goal, keeping their composure, has a weighted positive effect on the entire team. On the contrary, losing composure and becoming emotional or lashing out often has a negative impact.
