Keeping up with the LaLiga Formation Methodology Level 3 course in Livermore, California

Livermore, Calif. | The first LaLiga Formation Methodology course of 2019 and the second Level 3 course to be hosted by NorCal Premier in Livermore, California is being held January 4-6 at La Positas College.

Level 3 is the introductory level of LaLiga Formation Methodology, which outlines the philosophy and methods used across LaLiga to train, develop and form some of the world’s top players, at a fundamental level.

The course topics will include:

  • Methodological Foundations of Training
  • Structure of Training
  • Development of the Training Model
  • Training Tactical Concept
  • Training Technique
  • System Development and Strategy
  • Training Physical Elements

Kimet Sport, also a Players First partner, is the software for design, control, evaluation and periodization of training sessions used by the course. Every participant receives a complimentary one-year license to the product.


The final day of this Level 3 course will feature three classroom sessions on, Tactical Concept Training, the Kimet Planning software tool, and system development & strategy training of the game model, respectively. The coaches will take this a step further by taking the field for two sessions on Tactical Concept and and and system development and strategy.

After the final field session and a brief closing period, the coaches will head home with new knowledge towards establishing a personal methodology for their own club.


The second day of the course brings about nine hours of classroom and field instruction, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and concluding at 6:30 p.m. – with an intermission for lunch.

There are nearly 200 coaches in attendance this weekend, and today, they’ll start out in the classroom discussing technical training principles. Then, they’ll take that knowledge to the field for instruction on technical training and decision making.

In the afternoon, a field session titled: “Movement and Physical Qualities” is wedged between classroom sessions, of which establishing a methodological foundation is a highlight.

The first day of the course is a shorter one, as the attending coaches will arrive to check-in and meet the instructors, Gari Fullaondo, Hugo Blanco and Zunbeltz Fullaondo. After that, there will be two classroom sessions: on development and management of the training model, and soccer training structure, respectively.

Following these sessions, the coaches will observe on the pitch at 5 p.m. PST for a field session, concluding the opening day of the Level 3 course.
