07 Jan Players First club spotlight: FC Alliance
Editor’s Note: On Dec. 18, US Club Soccer announced the first-ever class of Players First-licensed clubs, which featured 46 clubs from 19 states. In the weeks to follow, those clubs will be highlighted with Q&As from their directors
Question: Why did FC Alliance apply for Players First licensing?
Josh Gray, Girls Director of Coaching, ECNL Director of FC Alliance: Players First Licensing is directly in line with our belief to develop a complete player while having parents understand the process. We applied for the license as an audit to see where we stood in reaching that goal.
Question: What does it mean for FC Alliance to now be an official Players First-licensed club?
Gray: We are thrilled that we have met the criteria that was needed to receive this license. I feel the best aspect of this platform is that US Club Soccer’s resources will continue to help us be on the edge of player development, holistic development, parent education, and coaching education.
Question: What makes Players First licensing different from other initiatives or programs your club has participated in?
Gray: This was not an application of just checking boxes. The comprehensive application and review process was the most rigorous evaluation that we have had of our full club model, and methodology.
Question: What would you like the parents of FC Alliance to know about what this means to them?
Gray: This license means that we will continue to maintain a high standard of developing great people and players in order to maintain the standard that is Players First. Any time that there are standards to maintain, it forces an organization to rise to meet that challenge. We will continue to create a great environment for boys and girls in East Tennessee.
