For those not in the Windy City, you can follow along during this session and throughout the week for live updates, photos, videos and more on social media (Twitter / Facebook / Instagram) and in the daily log.
This classroom session will be led by LaLiga methodology expert and UEFA-PRO coach Gari Fullaondo, who is just days removed from the 14th LaLiga Formation Methodology coaching education course. The most recent course was held in Livermore, Calif., Jan. 4-6, and was hosted by NorCal Premier, featuring 169 coaches from 91 clubs. Miguel Montoro, West Coast Delegate for LaLiga International Business Development, will also contribute to the session.
“Developing Intelligence through Formative Player Projects” will address LaLiga’s philosophy – and intentional emphasis – in creating special projects and programs to ensure individual long-term player development and cumulative learning. The session will also include a sneak peek into LaLiga’s upcoming courses and events in collaboration with US Club Soccer, as well as a brief demonstration of Kimet Planning software.
LaLiga and US Club Soccer signed a long-term technical partnership at the Players First launch event in Aug. 2015. Since then, about 1,500 coaches from more than 400 clubs and organizations have participated in LaLiga Formation Methodology. With those 14 courses and the annual United Soccer Coaches Conventions, LaLiga has delivered about 350 total hours of instruction throughout the country to help develop better coaches, and in turn, better players.
The 2019 United Soccer Coaches Convention began yesterday and progresses through Saturday. It is being held at McCormick Place and is expected to draw 6,500 coaches and 14,000 attendees as the “world’s largest annual gathering of soccer coaches and administrators,” according to United Soccer Coaches officials.
On Friday, US Club Soccer and LaLiga are back at it with a field session from 2:30-3:30 p.m. CT titled: “Key Tactical Concepts in Three Game Structures: 7v7, 9v9 and 11v11.” That will be held in the McCormick Place West Building Hall F1 on the second demo field.
Additionally, US Club Soccer has a large Players First-themed booth (#937), where current and prospective members are encouraged to meet with their respective US Club Soccer membership services representative. The Exhibit Hall inside McCormick Place opens Thursday night at 6 p.m. CT.
Beyond US Club Soccer-specific sessions, members are encouraged to check in on sessions led by Players First partners – a collection of best-in-class resources advancing the pillars of Club Development, Coaching Development, Player Development, Parent Engagement & Education and Player Health & Safety. Here is a day-by-day breakdown of those opportunities.
