Player Registration

PLAYER REGISTRATION

Registration is required of all players participating in US Club Soccer-operated or -sanctioned programming. Players who are not currently registered with US Club Soccer are not allowed to participate in US Club Soccer programming, nor are they covered by US Club Soccer insurance.

PLAYER REGISTRATION / MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

One is registered with US Club Soccer when the following requirements are completed and current.

  • Applicable to: All players.
  • Membership types/categories:
    • Youth – Competitive
    • Youth – Rec
    • Adult
  • Timeframe: Each registration year (ex: 2026-27).
  • Completed by: Org Member (ex: club) administrator on behalf of the player being registered.
  • Note: Registration is required for all players and staff participating in US Club Soccer activities. Players and staff not currently registered with US Club Soccer are not allowed to participate in US Club Soccer programming, nor are they covered by US Club Soccer insurance. That means that they are not authorized to travel, practice, train, scrimmage, play in a game or tournament, or participate in any US Club Soccer activity until they are fully registered. To be fully registered, all requirements must be fulfilled, including the payment of US Club Soccer player or staff fees. Registering a player or staff right before their first game may violate US Club Soccer Safeguarding and Compliance policies to the extent the player or staff has already been training, practicing or participating in any US Club Soccer activities.

  • Applicable to: Youth – Competitive players only
  • Timeframe: Once
  • Completed by: Uploaded by parent/player or Org Member (ex: club) administrator, and verified by US Club Soccer.
  • Accepted documents: Government-issued birth certificate, passport, driver’s license, other document issued by the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security or U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services, or other document as determined by US Club Soccer.
  • Not accepted documents: US Club Soccer does not accept hospital and medical center certificates, baptismal or other religious certificates and social security cards. Do not upload those documents into GotSport.
  • Note: US Club Soccer carefully reviews each proof of birth (PoB) to check the player’s legal name, gender and date of birth, and the entire document must be uploaded with no alterations. Altered proofs of birth (PoBs) will be tendered to US Club Soccer’s Safeguarding and Compliance team and will result in disciplinary action, including suspension, among other potential outcomes.
  • Instructions:
  • What it is: An annual requirement to complete the next available SafeSport Trained Core or Refresher course in the annual cycle listed below. Only one course needs to be completed each year, and please note that the SafeSport for Youth Players course does not satisfy this requirement:
    • SafeSport Trained – U.S. Soccer Federation (yr 1) – this is also referred to as “Core” training
    • SafeSport Refresher 1 (yr 2)
    • SafeSport Refresher 2 (yr 3)
    • SafeSport Refresher 3 (yr 4)
    • Repeat from SafeSport Trained – U.S. Soccer Federation / Core (yr 5)
  • Applicable to:
    • Youth players who will be 18+ years old during the applicable Seasonal Year
      • For 2026-27: Born on or before July 31, 2009
    • Adult players who are on a team with a Minor Athlete (anyone who is under 18 years old).
  • Timeframe:
    • For 2026-27: Must be completed on or after June 1, 2026.

A player’s registration will not be valid, a passcard will not be issued, and the player will not appear on an Official Roster until SafeSport training (and any other applicable requirement) is completed and approved in the player’s account. That means some 16- and 17-year-olds will be required to complete SafeSport Training with parental consent.

  • What it is: Verification that the player is not included on any of the following registries or lists, pursuant to US Club Soccer Policy 13.08, as well as U.S. Soccer and U.S. Center for SafeSport requirements:
  • Completed by: An administrator/registrar of the US Club Soccer Organization Member (ex: club) who purchased the player’s registration/affiliated the player with US Club Soccer.
  • Applicable to:
    • Youth players who will be 18+ years old during the applicable Seasonal Year
      • For 2026-27: Born on or before July 31, 2009
    • Adult players who are on a team with a Minor Athlete (anyone who is under 18 years old).
  • Timeframe: Once, at the time of initial registration once this requirement is applicable. Ongoing checks are managed by US Club Soccer.

A player’s registration will not be valid, a passcard will not be issued, and the player will not appear on an Official Roster until this – and any other applicable requirement – is completed and approved.

Once the org admin/club registrar adds a person to GotSport with a role of Player and assigns the person the appropriate affiliation (USCLUB) and competitive level (Competitive, Rec, etc.), the applicable requirements and forms will be available via the dashboard of that person being registered.

To access your dashboard and requirements, please be sure you log into your GotSport account using the same email address used by your org admin/club registrar. (Help article: How to log in)
