US Club Soccer encourages members to take part in Positive Coaching Alliance offerings to provide a positive, character-building soccer experience for players. Positive Coaching Alliance helps to advance the Players First pillars of Coaching Development, Parent Engagement & Education and Player Health & Safety.

In order to achieve the ambitious goals of the Million Coaches Challenge, SCE is assembling a coalition of bold and innovative organizations to broaden the definition of good coaching to include youth development and social and emotional learning. Dedicated to leveraging the power of youth sports, these partners understand that training coaches to support kids on and off the field helps young athletes develop social and emotional skills like teamwork, empathy, and problem solving, significantly impacting academic, career and life outcomes.

For a chance to join the Million Coaches Challenge, please fill out this form and a PCA representative will be in touch.

We’re proud to support and amplify Positive Coaching Alliance’s efforts to combat racism and celebrate diversity. Through the Positive Coaching Alliance / US Club Soccer partnership, Players First clubs have preferred access to Positive Coaching Alliance educational resources for three Players First pillars: Coaching Development, Parent Engagement & Education and Player Health & Safety.

These resources include videos and articles featuring past World Cup and MLS players and coaches from the Positive Coaching Alliance National Advisory Board, which includes notables like Brandi Chastain, Tony DiCicco, Joy Fawcett, Julie Foudy, Alexi Lalas, Kristine Lilly and Claudio Reyna. The partnership also provides US Club Soccer member clubs and leagues with discounted rates to make Positive Coaching Alliance workshops a local commodity.

Positive Coaching Alliance develops BETTER ATHLETES, BETTER PEOPLE through resources for youth and high school sports coaches, parents, administrators and student-athletes.

In addition to hundreds of free audio-video and printable tips and tools at devzone.positivecoach.org, Positive Coaching Alliance has partnered with roughly 3,000 schools and youth sports organizations nationwide to deliver live group workshops, online courses and books by founder Jim Thompson that help those involved in youth and high school sports create a positive, character-building youth sports culture.

Positive Coaching Alliance workshops and courses, which have impacted roughly eight million youth, strive to transform high school and youth sports into a Development Zone, where the goal is to develop Better Athletes, Better People and the following become the prevailing models in youth and high school sports:

  • The Double-Goal Coach®, who strives to win while also pursuing the more important goal of teaching life lessons through sports
  • The Second-Goal Parent®, who concentrates on life lessons, while letting coaches and athletes focus on competing
  • The Triple-Impact Competitor®, who strives to impact sport on three levels by improving oneself, teammates and the game as a whole.

Positive Coaching Alliance gains support from a National Advisory Board, including National Spokesperson and 11-time NBA champion Coach Phil Jackson, and many other top coaches, athletes, organization leaders and academics who share Positive Coaching Alliance’s mission.
