UPDATE (MAY 11):
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, US Club Soccer and LaLiga have postponed this LaLiga Formation Methodology course. The postponement comes as a result of international travel restrictions, as well as an uncertainty about the safety of such an intimate coaching environment at those times.
The rescheduled dates for the course are Oct. 30-Nov. 1. The original dates were in June.

ABOUT THE COURSE:
LaLiga Formation Methodology courses outline the philosophy and methods used across LaLiga to train, develop and form some of the world’s top players. The 2½-day level 3 course includes theory and practical sessions both on and off the field.
Topics include:
- Understand the training sessions structure following the different principles of progressivity, cohesion and pertinence.
- Understand the coach role in the team’s management, setting different kinds of leadership models.
- Understand the collective nature of football from a holistic perspective where all the performance (physical, technical, tactical and psychological) factors take place at the same time.
- Develop during the workshops and sessions, under the supervision and feedback of LaLiga Experts, different training sessions and exercises according with each objectives and context.
- Know the particularities of the initiation stages in terms of players development, know the contents proposed by LaLiga for this stage.
- Know the prosed competition structures by LaLiga for the different development stages.
- Understand the principles of system and strategy training from a practical session lead by LaLiga experts.
VENUE:
Classroom and field sessions will be held at CAPS Fieldhouse (6060 West Canal Rd.; Valley View, OH 44125)
IMPORTANT: To protect the rights of LaLiga and the clinicians, attendees are prohibited from taking videos of any of the presentations throughout the course.
LALIGA LEADERSHIP:
Hugo Blanco is LaLiga’s Sports Projects Manager and an expert in methodology training (UEFA-PRO Coach). Blanco has worked as a Director Manager in different Public and Private Facilities, and he has extensive experience with the Galician Football Federation and Galician School of Coaching, among other organizations. Blanco holds a Ph.D. in Science of Physical Activity and Sport from Universidad de A Coruña (Doctoral Thesis about Tactical Data Analysis) and has researched and published several articles relating to top-level soccer performance.
Carlos Casal is the current Senior Specialist in Sports Projects Development at LaLiga. He is a UEFA PRO-certified coach and has bachelor’s and master’s degree in Sports Science, specializing in soccer tactical analysis. Casal joined LaLiga in 2015 and has since carried out different football programs in more than 20 countries, ranging from grassroots development to a high-performance perspective. He continues to work in various research studies and has published articles in high-impact journals.
Felipe Vega-Arango, current Technical Director of the first LaLiga Academy in the U.S. (in Miami). Former head coach and Technical Head of the Salomon Islands National Team, Felipe is a UEFA-PRO certified coach with more than 20 years of experience in Spanish and American grassroots development. From the coach’s development perspective and beyond his mission in Spain, Felipe is one of the FIFA Technical Experts, training more than 500 coaches around the world during the past two years.
