Youth Summary (2019-20)



As a benefit of membership, soccer players, coaches, officials and other registered members receive accident and general liability insurance coverage for their Covered Activities of US Club Soccer via the Insurance Office of America, Inc. (IOA), as outlined below.

This information covers the short-term insurance coverage policy period of January 1, 2019 – July 31, 2019, as well as the standard policy period of August 1, 2019 – July 31, 2020.

General Information:

This policy provides coverage for accidental medical injuries incurred by Insured Persons, while participating in Covered Activities of US Club Soccer. This is a full excess policy, meaning insurance is payable in excess of any other valid and collectible health plan or insurance in force at the time of the accident causing injury. All medical bills need to be processed through your primary insurance plan prior to submission to the claims administrator, A-G Administrators, Inc. To be eligible for coverage, medical and/or dental expenses must be incurred within the Benefit Period.

If you are covered by another full excess insurance policy (such as through a state association or other U.S. Soccer Member Organization) that is applicable during the time of injury, this policy will respond to eligible expenses on a 50/50 split with the other full excess insurance policy.

Coverage limitations exist for some benefits.

Who is Covered:

Under the participant medical accident policy, the following are covered as Named Insureds: US Club Soccer and its member clubs, teams and leagues; all registered players and players participating in try-outs (7 consecutive days or fewer); all member coaches and officials; volunteers of the team or league and other participants affiliated with the Association.

Covered Activities:

Registered members and volunteers are covered when participating in the following covered activities:

  • Scheduled games, team practice sessions and sponsored activities, provided that they are under the direct supervision of a team official; or tournaments sanctioned by the Association, as a member of a contestant team.
  • Group travel directly to or from such scheduled practices, games or sponsored activities.

Notable Exclusions:

No coverage is provided for:

  • Injuries sustained traveling, except as specifically provided
  • The cost of eyeglasses, contact lenses or examinations
  • The cost of dental treatment, except as specifically provided for injuries to sound, natural teeth
  • Injuries covered by workers’ compensation or employer’s liability laws
  • Any health-related expense
  • Suicide or self-inflicted injury
  • Cosmetic surgery, except for reconstructive surgery as a result of the accidental injury
  • Infection, except pyogenic or bacterial infection as a result of the accidental injury
  • Being intoxicated or under the influence of drugs or narcotics

This description of coverage summarizes the provisions of the U.S. Fire Insurance Company Participant Accident Medical policy issued to US Club Soccer. Should there be any discrepancy between the policy and this description, policy provisions will prevail.

This policy provides general and excess liability coverage for Named Insureds for the Covered Activities of the Association.

Sexual abuse/molestation:$1 million each occurrence
Medical payments (to non-participants):$5,000 any one person

Who is Covered:

The Association, its member clubs, teams and leagues, and its member players, coaches and officials are all Named Insureds under this policy with respect to operations and sponsored activities of the Association.

Covered Activities:

  • All sanctioned activities/events of the Named Insured Soccer Association
  • Claims for liability or negligence for bodily injury or property damage arising out of sponsored activities, its member teams, leagues and participants.
  • Liability for Personal or Advertising Injury, including false arrest, detention or malicious prosecution, or violation of right to privacy.

Certificates of Insurance:

Liability certificates of insurance will be issued on behalf of member clubs, teams and leagues to facility and field owners who need proof of coverage. Requests should be sent to US Club Soccer, who will process your request in conjunction with IOA.

Notable Exclusions or Limitations:

The usual Standard Commercial General Liability policy exclusions apply, such as Worker’s Compensation, Nuclear Energy, Pollution and Lead; also, use of trampolines and fireworks is excluded. No coverage is provided for parents, coaches or volunteers using any automobile to transport team members or volunteers to any practice, game or activity.

This description of coverage summarizes the provisions of the Everest National Insurance Company Commercial General Liability policy issued to US Club Soccer. Should there be any discrepancy between the policy and this description, policy provisions will prevail.


  • Camps. To the extent the “camp” is an internal activity limited to players of the applicable member organization who are registered with US Club Soccer, that is within the scope of the US Club Soccer-provided insurance coverage. If the activity is a true “camp” open to players outside of the member organization who are not registered with US Club Soccer, this camp falls outside the coverage the scope of the US Club Soccer-provided insurance coverage. Supplemental camp coverages are available by contacting IOA or a different broker.
  • Other coverage for member organizations. As detailed on the main Insurance web page, US Club Soccer strongly recommends member organizations obtain other insurance coverage that is not included within the US Club Soccer-provided coverage.
