CHARLESTON, S.C. (Feb. 3, 2022) – US Club Soccer will add the Southwest Regional to its cup-based championship series, beginning this summer at the National Cup XXI. The Southwest Regional takes place June 17-20 at SoCal Sports Complex in Oceanside, California. Six other National Cup XXI Regionals take place in June throughout the country.

The National Cup XXI Southwest Regional is a registration-based event, open to U-13 through U-18/19 boys and girls teams carded with US Club Soccer. An early registration rate is available until April 29, and the final day to register is May 15. The tournament features Super Group (most competitive) and Premier Group divisions. Champion U-13 through U-18/19 boys and girls teams from all seven regionals and qualifying state cups earn entry to the National Cup XXI Finals in July at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado.

At the beginning of the 2021-22 season, US Club Soccer welcomed SOCAL Soccer League, formerly known as the Southern California Developmental Soccer League, to its membership. The league consists of more than 100 clubs, 3,300 teams and 50,000 players and staff in U-8 through U-19 age groups throughout Southern California. The addition of the Southwest Regional brings the popular tournament series to US Club Soccer members in the region.

“The rapid growth of our membership in the Southwest region presented a natural opportunity to expand the National Cup series,” said Alexandra Rieben, US Club Soccer Sr. Director of Partnerships and Events. “By partnering with a first-class facility like SoCal Sports Complex, the Southwest Regional will provide an ideal environment for championship-level competition, while reducing travel burdens for teams in the region. Providing this opportunity is an important step for us, as we continue to support the growth and development of our leagues and National Cup.”
