US Club Soccer, WeCOACH renew partnership to continue complimentary education, support for women coaches

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Dec. 2, 2025) – US Club Soccer is proud to announce a partnership renewal with WeCOACH. The partnership provides US Club Soccer members with continued, complimentary access to year-round professional growth and leadership development programs.

Founded in 2011, WeCOACH focuses on the recruitment, advancement and retention of women coaches in all sports and levels. The organization cultivates a diverse and inclusive community where the voice of women coaches is stronger together through professional growth and leadership development programs. The WeCOACH initiative “MOVE the NUMBERS” aims to improve the landscape for women coaches and combat dropout rates of girls in sport.

According to the Aspen Institute Project Play: State of Play 2023 Annual Report on Trends in Youth Sports, only 26 percent of youth sports head coaches are women. As a signal of US Club Soccer’s belief in the power of women to advance the sport, this renewal agreement includes an increased number of scholarships offered to US Club Soccer women coaches. US Club Soccer will be selecting 10 coaches to receive scholarships to attend the WeCOACH Youth & High School Women Coaches Academy (Update: Applications are now closed). The Academy is an annual, digital program that provides professional development with advanced leadership skills and strategies that directly impact personal and team success. These scholarships are available in part due to the generosity of DICK’S Sporting Goods, another US Club Soccer partner.

The US Club Soccer and WeCOACH agreement provides women coaches access to top-of-the-line resources, like 12 different professional growth and leadership development programs ranging from in-person options to virtual leadership and peer-to-peer empowerment.

ABOUT WeCOACH

Founded in 2011, WeCOACH is a one-of-a-kind 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to recruiting, advancing, and retaining women coaches in all sports and levels through year-round professional growth & leadership development programs. Prior to Title IX, over 90% of women’s collegiate sports teams were coached by women. Today, over 50 years later, the data indicates that number has decreased to 41% across all three NCAA Divisions, with only 7% women head coaches of color. Only 6% of coaches of men’s teams are women. At the youth level, the data are difficult to estimate, but approximately fewer than 26% of teams are coached by women.
